Julie Kaufman is the 2015 recipient of the Rotch Travelling Scholarship. Her proposed research agenda brings her to Italy, Germany, India, China, and Brazil, examining architecture and national identity in new/reinterpreted capital cities from the last 100+ years. She embarked in December 2015.

 

Julie collaborated during four years in the office of Rafael Moneo in Madrid, Spain. She has also worked at AMO/OMA in Rotterdam, the Netherlands, Diller Scofidio + Renfro in New York, New York, Buro Happold Engineers in London, UK, and William Rawn Associates in Boston, Massachusetts. She was most recently a senior architect at BIG NYC.

She received a Master in Architecture with Distinction in 2007 from the Harvard University Graduate School of Design. At the GSD she received the Faculty Design Award as well as the Araldo Cossutta Award for Excellence in Design Core Prize. She graduated from MIT in 2002 with a degree in architecture, winning the MIT Faculty Design Award.

She has previously taught architectural design at the IE University in Spain, and the Harvard GSD Career Discovery program.
